Accepted for publication 29 April 1991 Abstract Objective-To devise assays to assess and follow the specific antibody response in patients treated with streptokinase for acute myocardial infarction. Design-Venous blood samples were collected before treatment with streptokinase started and subsequently at regular intervals over one year. Specific IgG and subclass IgGi were assessed by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Setting-Coronary care unit in a general hospital. Patients-48 patients with acute myocardial infarction: 22 patients had venous blood samples taken at presentation only; serial blood samples were taken from 20 patients who then received thrombolytic therapy with streptokinase and six patients who were unsuitable for thrombolytic therapy. Results-Titres of antibodies to streptokinase were low at presentation in 36 (75%) of the 48 patients. Serial measurements made in 20 patients showed the virtual disappearance of antibody within the first 24 hours. This was followed by a steady increase in the specific IgGl titre, which peaked at day 14 before gradually declining. Values at one year remained significantly higher than baseline values. متن کاملThe streptokinase therapy complications and its associated risk factors in patients with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is one of the main leading causes of mortality and morbidity. Despite the progress in the treatment of AMI, streptokinase is still being used in many countries. Because of the critical condition of patients with AMI and complications of streptokinase therapy, this study was performed to evaluate the pattern of adverse drug reaction (ADRs) induced by streptokina...
متن کاملAnti-streptokinase Antibody Detection before and Immediately after Streptokinase Therapy in Patients with Myocardial Infarction
Background: Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the most common and serious diseases resulting from coronary artery occlusion and major reduction in blood flow. Streptokinase as a thrombolytic is considered the first and most important therapeutic intervention for reperfusion following MI in most countries including Iran. Our previous study showed that, the prevalence of high antibody titers a...
متن کاملAssessing Time between Arriving to Hospital and Administration of Streptokinase in Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction in Emergency Department of Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2003-4
Introduction: Acute myocardial infarction is one of the major causes of mortality in developing countries such as Iran. One of the most important progresses in acute myocardial infarction is early administration of therombolytic agents such as streptokinase. This study was performed to determine the time interval from patients’ referral to the emergency wards to the introduction of thrombolytic...
